David de Gea one step closer to sign new Man United contract

Manchester United have reportedly make a breakthrough in contract negotiations with goalkeeper David de Gea.

Despite a successful eight-year spell at Old Trafford, De Gea finds himself in a position where he has just 12 months left on his existing deal as a result of shunning previous offers.

That has left United fearful of the Spain international departing the club on a free transfer in 2020 when a significant transfer fee could be raised this summer.

However, according to The Telegraph, De Gea is on the verge of penning a new long-term contract worth in the region of £350,000 per week.

The report claims that United have put an improved offer to the 28-year-old in recent weeks, with the proposal seemingly being enough to tempt the stopper into remaining at the club.

De Gea has made a total of 352 appearances for United in all competitions.
