Real Madrid to offer Karim Benzema new contract?

Real Madrid are reportedly looking to hand a new long-term contract to striker Karim Benzema.

Despite having previously been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, Benzema is now considered to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The 32-year-old has contributed 16 goals and seven assists in La Liga and the Champions League this season, which has seemingly led to the Los Blancos hierarchy making their move.

According to AS, Real want to hand Benzema a two-year contract extension, taking the Frenchman to the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

However, given his age and uncertainty over his longevity, the report claims that the long-serving player is happy to pen a shorter deal.

Regardless of which option is taken by Real, it appears likely that an official announcement will be made in the near future.
