Tottenham Hotspur to sign Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old defender has impressed for the Portuguese outfit this season, providing six assists in 24 league matches.

The Spaniard has allegedly caught the attention of La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, according to reports in Spain, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as frontrunners for the left-back, who has racked up 156 appearances for Benfica.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is not satisfied with his current options on the left side of the defence, and has asked the management to pull out all the stops to sign the defender.

Grimaldo will see his contract at Benfica expire at 2023, and the left-back will allegedly cost Tottenham €35m.
