Chelsea to swoop for Timo Werner?

Chelsea have reportedly placed emphasis on signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the summer transfer window.

Blues manager Frank Lampard is said to be in the market for fresh faces, and Chelsea have been consistently linked with additions to their forward line.

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele is rumoured to be on Chelsea’s radar, but the 23-year-old Frenchman’s reported £60m price tag could hinder Blues’ attempts to sign the frontman amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As a result, the West London outfit may explore other options ahead of the new season, and according to ESPN, Chelsea are seriously considering a summer move for Werner.

The report goes on to claim that Chelsea are hopeful of convincing the German international to move to Stamford Bridge with the promise of first-team football, and the Premier League giants could activate Werner’s release clause to sign him for £49million.

However, the 24-year-old is understood to be holding out for a move to the European champions Liverpool, but no club has tabled a concrete offer for the striker as of yet.
