Liverpool to sign Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak

Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak, according to The Daily Mirror, as quoted by The Daily Mail.

The Reds are looking at the 20-year-old defender as a potential signing at the beginning of 2021 to provide cover for Virgil van Dijk.

The report adds that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign a new centre-back to fill the void left by Van Dijk after the Dutchman sustained a serious knee injury.

Klopp is a big fan of Kabak and the Merseyside giants have earmarked the Turkey international as a potential signing.

Schalke will be looking to secure a transfer fee somewhere in the region of £40m.

However, the Daily Mirror claims that the German outfit will drop their asking price to £30m given the financial implications due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kabak racked up 18 appearances in two seasons for Galatasaray before Stuttgart signed the centre-back in 2018.
