Arsenal interested in Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton
Arsenal have reportedly earmarked Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton as a potential addition to their squad next summer.
The Gunners parted ways with Emiliano Martinez last summer and have identified Alex Runarsson as the replacement.
However, the Iceland international has failed to impress at the Emirates and he was guilty of a couple of mistakes between the sticks in the League quarter-final loss to Manchester City.
Hence, the north London outfit are already planning to sell him and they have earmarked Villa’s Heaton as one of the shot-stoppers for the deputy role behind Bernd Leno.
Heaton, 34, has been a quality goalkeeper over the years, but he is currently behind the pecking order with Martinez, Jed Steer and Orjan Nyland ahead of him.
Heaton still has more than two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract and the Midlands club are in a good position to command a reasonable amount.
