Liverpool on verge of signing Ibrahima Konate?

Liverpool are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal for Ibrahima Konate, according to The Athletic.

The Reds brought in Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies earlier this year to compensate for the long-term injury absence of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.

Despite those additions, though, the 2019-20 Premier League champions are still believed to be looking to bring in another centre-back ahead of next season.

Konate, who is contracted to the German club until the summer of 2023, is rumoured to be at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist.

The aforementioned report claims that Liverpool chiefs have been working on a deal and are close to agreeing a €40m fee with Leipzig.

Konate’s possible departure would leave Die Roten Bullen with a massive void to fill, as Dayot Upamecano is joining Bayern Munich in July.

Chelsea were also thought to be weighing up moves for the France Under-21s international.
