Liverpool set to pip Man United to the signing of Cristian Romero
Liverpool are reportedly keen to edge out Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus centre-back Cristian Romero, who joined Atalanta on loan until June next year.
The Argentina international is currently contracted to the Bianconeri, but he is yet to play a single game for the club and enjoyed an impressive season on loan at Gewiss Stadium in the 2020-21 campaign.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old, but according to Calciomercato via Team Talk, the Merseyside outfit are at the head of the queue for his signature.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have already strengthened their defence with the signing of Ibrahima Konate, and the report claims that La Dea would be unlikely to consider selling Romero unless they receive somewhere at around €50m.
Romero has contributed three goals and five assists in 42 appearances for Atalanta last term.
