Chelsea plotting move for Ronald Araujo
Chelsea have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
The 22-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Uruguayan outfit Boston River in 2018 and has since gone on to make 52 first-team appearances for Barca in all competitions.
The centre-back has been an important player for the Spanish club this season, chalking up 13 appearances, and the club are believed to be keen to sign him to a new long-term contract.
The Uruguay international will see his contract at Camp Nou expire at the end of next season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea are interested in signing the South American, with the European champions believing that the centre-back has the credentials to thrive in English football.
The Blues are intent on signing at least one new centre-back next summer due to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen.
