Liverpool in advanced talks to sign Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks with Aberdeen over the signing of teenage defender Calvin Ramsay.

The 18-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits with his performances during his breakthrough season in Scotland last season, having scored one goal and registered nine assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

The Reds are understood to have been alerted to Ramsay’s impressive growth in his homeland, which has seen him rewarded with three appearances for the Scotland national Under-21 side.

Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Manchester United and Leeds United have also been credited with an interest in the teenager, who will see his current contract expire in June 2024.

Football Insider claims that Liverpool are fairly frequently confident about their chances of winning the race for Ramsay’s signature after entering advanced talks with the Dons.

The report adds that the Reds are now poised to begin speaking with the Scottish right-back directly after a breakthrough in negotiations over a summer transfer.

It’s understood, that a fee of £3m with add-ons will supposedly be required to acquire Ramsay’s services in the coming weeks.

The right-back racked up 39 appearances in an Aberdeen shirt at the senior level, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is understood to have already given the green light to strike a deal.
