Nottingham Forest vs. Aston Villa Preview

There will be exciting Football live scores to follow for Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa fans when their teams clash in a Monday night affair. Nottingham Forest find themselves at the bottom of the league, while Aston Villa will hover just above the drop zone if West Ham, Southampton and Crystal Palace win their respective matches. So, both teams will mark this fixture as a potential three-pointer.

Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa did not get to play each other much in the Premier League. The Trees have played Villa only 10 times in the Premier League, and they have only one win to show for it. However, their last meeting at the City Ground took place in the 2018/19 Championship season. Aston Villa returned to Birmingham with a 3-1 win that time.

Steve Cooper had enough reasons to be optimistic ahead of Nottingham’s away trip to Leicester since they were about to play the only team in the division without victory. But the Foxes set aside their problems to demolish Nottingham Forest in a 4-0 win. James Maddison started the goal-fest with a brilliant free-kick before Taiwo Awoniyi missed a chance to put the visitors ahead.

Nottingham Forest have spent top money in the summer to upgrade their squad following their promotion to Premier League. Despite spending near the £150 million mark, the two-time European champions have little to show for it. If they can’t arrest the slump and pick up some victories, Steve Cooper’s journey as the Nottingham Forest manager could come to an end.

Cooper is not the only under-pressure manager who will stand on the sidelines on Monday night. Steven Gerrard has come under severe criticism for Aston Villa’s poor form this season. After their loss to West Home at home, the fans expressed their discontent by booing Villa off the pitch. Patience is running thin among Aston Villa fans. Unless Gerrard manages to turn around Villa’s form, he might have to look for a new job soon.

The goalless draw away at Elland Road did not help Gerrard’s causes. Aston Villa were favourites to win the game after the referee sent off Luis Sinisterra in the 48th minute. But Gerrard’s former Liverpool colleague Philippe Coutinho hitting the woodwork is the closest Villa came to finding the winner.

Aston Villa don’t have a great record against newly promoted clubs. They have won only once against such teams in their last four matches and lost three times. Villa had lost to Bournemouth earlier this season, and they can suffer the same fate against Nottingham at City Ground. We are expecting Nottingham Forest to win this by 2-0.
