Liverpool lining up January bid for Enzo Fernandez

Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January.

The 21-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits with his performances at the 2022 World Cup to help lead Argentina to their third title.

Fernandez only joined the Portuguese giants in the summer, and the Eagles are under no pressure to sell him, as he is contracted to the club until 2027.

Furthermore, the youngster is understood to possess a release clause of over £100m, and the club are unlikely to consider offers below that nine-figure sum.

According to Calciomercato via Mirror, Liverpool are preparing a whooping bid for Fernandez’s signature next month, although it remains uncertain how much the Merseyside outfit are willing to fork out.

The Argentine has already come up with three goals and five assists in 24 games for Benfica during his first half-season at the club.

Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in recent months.
