Man United frontrunners to sign Yassine Bounou
Manchester United reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
A report from TeamTalk states that the Red Devils are targeting the 31-year-old as a key transfer for the summer of 2023, and manager Erik ten Hag is leading the effort to secure his signature.
Bounou gained recognition for his impressive performance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he played a vital role in Morrocco’s historic run to the semi-finals. His performances put him in the spotlight and helped make his team the first African nation to achieve this feat.
The stopper signed with Sevilla the Andalusian outfit in the summer of 2020. Since his arrival, he has been a consistent performer for the club, earning himself a spot as one of the first names on the team sheet.
He has played in 128 matches for Sevilla and earned 56 clean sheets.
Unfortunately, Sevilla’s poor performance this season has had an impact on Bounou’s form, and the team currently sits at 12th place in the La Liga standings with only 24 points from 21 matches.
Although Bounou’s contract with Los Nervionenses runs until the summer of 2025, and he is currently valued at around €20 million.
Erik ten Hag is a strong admirer of the Moroccan and wants him to join Old Trafford. However, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing the shot-stopper, but according to aforementioned reports, Manchester United are in the lead for his signature.
