Man United join race to sign Mohamed Simakan
Manchester United and Arsenal have both reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, according to Fichajes.
The Red Devils have joined the pursuit of the Frenchman as head coach Erik ten Hag is looking for a right-back to potentially replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are also interested in signing Simakan, who can play in multiple positions on the right side of the defence.
The 23-year-old’s impressive performances for RB Leipzig this season have caught the attention of top clubs. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is specifically seeking a competitor for the positions held by Ben White and William Saliba.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Simakan, but it seems that United may have a stronger desire to acquire him. Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen the club’s defence by targeting at least two positions.
The 20-time English champions are determined to build a competitive team that can compete for honours. Although they have had a progressive season under the Dutchman, they want to take the next step and achieve their priority targets, with Simakan being one of them.
