Chelsea frontrunners to sign Ivan Toney
Chelsea appear to be the front-runners in the race to secure the signature of England international Ivan Toney from Brentford in the upcoming January transfer window.
Reports suggest that Chelsea’s manager Mauricio Pochettino sees Toney as an ideal addition to his squad.
Despite the recent closure of the summer transfer window, Chelsea are already planning its moves for January. The club, known for its significant financial investments since Roman Abramovich’s ownership in 2003, has continued its spending spree under current co-owner Todd Boehly, who took over just over a year ago.
The Blues have bolstered its squad in various positions during this transfer window, but there’s still a need for more firepower upfront. With Nicolas Jackson yet to find his scoring form and Christopher Nkunku sidelined due to injury, Chelsea are targeting a new striker.
The Brentford striker Ivan Toney is reportedly at the top of Chelsea’s wishlist. The club are preparing to make a move for him once his ban ends in January.
Toney has been serving an eight-month ban for FA betting rule violations but has been highly sought after due to his impressive performances for Brentford, both in the Championship and the Premier League.
The Englishman, who recently joined super-agent Jonathan Barnett’s CAA Stellar agency, has expressed interest in joining a top club, mentioning Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.
