West Ham United considering move for Gonzalo Plata

West Ham United are reportedly targeting 24-year-old Ecuadorian winger Gonzalo Plata, who is currently with Flamengo, as they look to add depth and versatility to their attack.

Plata, who joined Flamengo from Al-Sadd in August 2024, has made a strong impression in South America, notably scoring a crucial goal in Flamengo’s recent Copa do Brasil victory. Although his stats—two goals and one assist in 13 appearances—are modest, his technical ability and adaptability have drawn attention from clubs across Europe.

For West Ham, Plata could provide the much-needed cover on the flanks, particularly with the team heavily reliant on Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus. While Kudus can operate centrally, Plata could strengthen the left side, adding balance to the lineup.

The Hammers are also reportedly tracking other options, including Sporting CP’s Pedro Goncalves, and may opt for a cautious approach this January after a summer of significant spending.

Nonetheless, a summer move for Plata could be a realistic option if his performances continue to attract European interest.
