Barcelona Locked in Transfer Battle for Edon Zhegrova

Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a summer move for LOSC Lille’s dynamic winger Edon Zhegrova, as they look to bolster their attacking options. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the Catalan giants have identified the 26-year-old Kosovar international as a prime target. However, they will have to meet Lille’s €30 million valuation to secure his services, while fending off interest from other European heavyweights.
Zhegrova’s Rise: From Hidden Gem to Star Winger
Since arriving at Lille from FC Basel in January 2022, Zhegrova has carved out a reputation as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable wide attackers. Born in Herford, Germany, but opting to represent Kosovo internationally, his journey has been anything but conventional.
His early career saw him hone his skills in Kosovo’s youth ranks before moving to Belgium, where he played for Standard Liège and St. Truiden. While his time in Belgium and Switzerland didn’t set the world alight, his move to Lille proved to be a game-changer. The winger has enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign, racking up eight goals and two assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Zhegrova has now informed Lille that he will not extend his contract, sparking a scramble for his signature. With multiple clubs monitoring his situation, Barcelona faces stiff competition for the Kosovar star.
A New Era at Barcelona?
Barcelona’s pursuit of Zhegrova makes perfect sense, given the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres. The club is actively seeking reinforcements on the wings, with Liverpool’s Luis Díaz also on their radar.
Zhegrova’s contract situation makes him an attractive, cost-effective option, but Barcelona isn’t alone in the race. Chelsea and other European giants have also been linked, making this a battle that could go down to the wire. Can Barcelona outmanoeuvre their rivals and bring Zhegrova to the Camp Nou? The summer transfer window will reveal all.
