Manchester United Target Elliot Anderson as £100m Valuation Looms
Manchester United are ‘really interested’ in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano — but landing him looks far from straightforward.
United Already Busy in Midfield
The Red Devils have hit the ground running in the transfer market, already securing a verbal agreement to sign Atalanta’s Ederson for £35 million plus add-ons. Anderson would be their second midfield target, with Romano confirming serious interest from Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old would represent a significant upgrade on Casemiro, whose contract expires on June 30. Anderson brings everything United’s midfield has been missing — intensity in duels, ball recovery, and a real eye for goal contributions.
The Problem? Man City And A Huge Price Tag
Here’s where it gets complicated. Forest want over £100 million for their prized asset, and Man City have already lodged the first formal offer. Anderson is reportedly keen on joining the Cityzens, which puts United firmly on the back foot.
With gaps still to fill at left-back, left wing, and centre-forward, splashing nine figures on one midfielder simply doesn’t make financial sense for United right now.
Anderson had a brilliant 2025/26 season — averaging 8 duels, 3 tackles won, and 8 recoveries per game — and has earned his place in England’s World Cup squad. He’s a generational talent, no doubt.
But with City leading the race and Forest holding firm on their valuation, United look set to admire from a distance rather than get the deal done.
