Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ‘to reject Real Madrid advances’
Jurgen Klopp is to reject any approach from Real Madrid to become their next manager as he is happy at Liverpool, according to a report.
The 51-year-old is rumoured to have been made Real president Florentino Perez’s top choice to succeed Santiago Solari, who is on his way out of the Bernabeu following a disastrous week.
Los Blancos lost back-to-back matches to Barcelona to end their hopes of domestic silverware, before being dumped out of the Champions League – a competition they have won three years running – in embarrassing circumstances by Ajax on Tuesday.
Klopp is said to have been identified by Real because of his personality and success, but The Telegraph reports that the German is committed to Liverpool and determined to see through the work that has taken the club close to its first Premier League crown.
With three years still to run on his contract, the report suggests that Klopp has no intention of walking away, no matter how hard Madrid push to land him.
Two two-time Bundesliga title winner’s representatives had to speak out last year when the Bayern Munich job became available, with Klopp making it clear at the time that he did not want to leave Anfield midway through a long-term project – a stance that has supposedly not changed.
