AC Milan set to pip Newcastle United to the signing of Sven Botman
AC Milan are reportedly set to pip Newcastle United to the signature of Lille centre-back Sven Botman.
During the January transfer window, Milan and the Magpies were eager to sign the Dutchman, only for Les Dogues to delay a deal until the summer.
Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley claimed last week that the 22-year-old defender was still eyeing up a move to St James’ Park ahead of 2023.
However, according to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have responded by accelerating contract discussions with the centre-back, aware that there may also be firm interest from elsewhere.
The report goes on to claim that the Italian giants have made significant progress in negotiations with Botman.
With that said, neither club has agreed a fee with the Ligue 1 outfit, but they are said to be willing to cash in on Botman.
