Manchester United step up Manuel Akanji pursuit
Manchester United have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji this summer.
The Switzerland international has been in a contract stand-off with BVB, and this could pave the way for his departure.
Akanji will enter the final year of his contract in July, and it has been suggested that the centre-back could be sold for around £25m.
The Red Devils are one of his main admirers, and Sport1 claims that Ralf Rangnick’s side could have an advantage in the Swiss’ pursuit.
Akanji’s stellar club form throughout the 2021-22 season has earned him links with some of Europe’s biggest names but prefers a move to the English Premier League this summer.
Man United have also “explored” the possibility of signing Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo in recent weeks.
However, the 23-year-old Uruguayan appears to sign a new long-term deal with the Blaugrana.
