Tottenham Hotspur lining up move for Maxime Esteve

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly targeting 22-year-old French defender Maxime Esteve from Burnley ahead of the winter transfer deadline. The Lilywhites are keen to strengthen their central defensive options, with the Frenchman emerging as a potential solution.

A Rising Talent in the Championship

Esteve has impressed since joining Burnley from Montpellier, initially on loan in February 2024, before making a permanent move in the summer. Having made almost 50 appearances for the EFL Championship club, his performances have caught the eye of Premier League clubs, with recent reports linking him to Everton and West Ham United.

Tottenham’s Pursuit

Tottenham have submitted a £20 million bid to secure Esteve, though Burnley is holding out for £30 million. Despite signing Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens, Spurs are looking to further bolster their defence, especially following injuries to key players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. With their earlier pursuits of Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori failing, Esteve represents a viable target for the North London club.

As the transfer window deadline approaches, it will be interesting to see if Spurs can reach an agreement with Burnley to secure Esteve’s services.
