Arsenal Plot Surprise Swoop for Chelsea Starlet Andrey Santos

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a shock transfer for Chelsea’s rising midfield talent, Andrey Santos, according to French outlet Le10 Sport.

With a verbal agreement already in place to bring in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi this summer, the Gunners are actively reshaping their midfield. Zubimendi is expected to step into the role currently occupied by Jorginho, whose departure seems imminent.

Meanwhile, contract renewal talks with Thomas Partey have stalled. With the Ghanaian’s deal set to expire on June 30, his potential exit could open the door for another midfield reinforcement.

Enter Andrey Santos. The 21-year-old Brazilian, currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, has been turning heads with his commanding displays. A versatile option who can operate both as a defensive anchor and a central playmaker, Santos recently made history by becoming the first midfielder to record 100 tackles in the French top flight this season — a stat that hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly in the mix, but Arsenal are believed to be seriously considering a bid. Chelsea signed Santos from Vasco da Gama for just £17 million, but a transfer later this year could cost suitors around £40 million.

As Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of another title push, could Santos be the next surprise addition to the Emirates?
