NZ skipper Kane Williamson sidelined for first two ODIs

New Zealand suffered an injury blow when skipper Kane Williamson was ruled out of the first two one-day internationals against India this week with a shoulder injury.

In Williamson’s absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham will lead the side and the 25-year-old former Hong Kong batsman Mark Chapman will take his place.

Williamson, 29, first hurt his shoulder in the third T20I against India and didn’t appear in the final two outings. However, Black Caps are hopeful that the Kiwi skipper will be back to lead the side in the final ODI which is scheduled to be played on February 11 in Mount Maunganui.

The first ODI gets underway on February 5 in Hamilton.
