Arsenal to beat Wolves to Maxi Gomez?

Arsenal are reportedly set to pip Wolverhampton Wanderers to the signature of Valencia forward Maxi Gomez, according to The Daily Mail.

The Gunners are set to rival Wolves in the race to sign the Uruguay international, who has a £125m contract release clause.

The North London outfit are keeping tabs on Gomez’s situation after his impressive performances for Los Che.

The report adds that Valencia need to raise funds so the Uruguayan could be sold in the mid-season transfer window or the summer to ease the La Liga club’s financial concerns.

According to the same story, West Ham United attempted to sign Gomez in the summer but the Spanish outfit rejected the Hammers’ bid for the striker.

Gomez has scored 14 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for Valencia over the past two seasons.
