Arsenal step up interest in Fikayo Tomori

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old defender has been identified by Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar as a potential addition to address the squad’s defensive shortcomings.

Despite Arsenal’s interest, AC Milan are in no hurry to part ways with Tomori, viewing him as a key performer. The defender played a crucial role in helping Milan secure the Scudetto since his arrival in 2021. Tomori, who reportedly supports the Gunners, might be open to a move, but Milan holds the cards with his contract running until 2027.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new centre-back due to injuries and shortages in the current squad. While Fikayo Tomori is on their shortlist, other targets like Matthijs de Ligt, Ousmane Diomande, and Goncalo Inacio seem less feasible for January signings. The North Londoners are also considering Ajax’s Jorrel Hato for a future-oriented acquisition.

In the transfer market, negotiations are complex, as seen in Arsenal’s reported summer bid for Diomande, which was rejected by Sporting. While there is potential interest in Tomori, the Gunners’ stance on rejecting Milan’s approach for Jakub Kiwior suggests they may not be actively pursuing Tomori in the upcoming transfer window.
