West Ham United interested in Man Utd’s Scott McTominay
West Ham United have reportedly outlined their intentions to move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
The 26-year-old has faced challenges establishing himself as a regular first-team player since Erik ten Hag’s arrival. He has only started 11 out of 25 games in all competitions this season. The likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Fred have been favoured over McTominay in central midfield.
Furthermore, competition for midfield positions has recently increased with the January arrival of Marcel Sabitzer on loan and the emergence of 17-year-old academy graduate, Kobbie Mainoo.
Reports suggest that United may offload McTominay and other first-team players in the summer to balance their books.
Football Insider stating that the Scottish international is among Man United’s targets for the 2023-24 season. The report adds that United are confident of selling him for £25m due to his Premier League experience.
Reports suggest that the Hammers are creating a list of midfield targets as it’s expected that Declan Rice will depart the London Stadium soon. He has less than 18 months left on his contract and has been linked with several top Premier League clubs such as Man United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
McTominay, who is contracted at Old Trafford until June 2025, has been identified as one of West Ham’s possible targets. He joined Man United’s academy at the age of five and made his professional debut in May 2017 after working his way up through the youth ranks.
McTominay has since appeared in a total of 195 games for United across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists. He has also gained experience in both the Champions League and Europa League.
