Liverpool step up interest in Marco Asensio?
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly decided to press ahead with his attempt to sign Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.
The German is unlikely to make any changes to a squad that has put together a strong challenge in both the Premier League and Champions League, but there is a desire to strengthen in a number of positions.
Liverpool have been linked with an approach for Asensio since the beginning of 2019, despite the playmaker being regarded as an important part of Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans.
However, according to reports in Spain, Liverpool are prepared to make a big-money approach for the Spain international in the coming months.
The Merseyside giants remain as outsiders to complete a deal, with the 23-year-old still having four years left on his contract at the Bernabeu.
Asensio has contributed just six goals from 39 outings in all competitions this season.
