Arsenal keen on signing Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo

Arsenal allegedly interested in signing Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo in the summer transfer window, according to Record.

The Gunners duo Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares are said to leave the Emirates on loan.

Prior to that, Arsenal want to sign a replacement first and have earmarked Grimaldo as the ideal transfer option.

The Spanish left-back has only 12 months remaining on his contract and could be available for around £6.4m this summer.

The North Londoners view him as a ‘safe bet’ with the low asking price, and believe the 26-year-old could be a perfect competitor to Tierney.

Grimaldo racked up 250 appearances for the Portuguese giants and has scored six goals and registered nine assists for the club last term.

Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 giants Lyon are also interested in Grimaldo.
