Chelsea join race to sign Nico Williams

Chelsea have reportedly joined the list of clubs wanting to sign Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams.

The 20-year-old striker has made 14 appearances for Atheltic Bilbao this season, contributing four goals and four assists.

The youngster has also featured as a substitute in Spain’s opening two World Cup matches, and his performances for the club and country have led to interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

A recent report suggested that Manchester United and Liverpool were lining up a move, while the Italian giants Juventus are also believed to be considering a potential transfer.

According to Football London, the West Londoners are expected to join the race to sign the frontman, who is set to enter the final 18 months of his contract at Atheltic.

The report adds that Chelsea could be tempted to make an approach at the midway point of the campaign after being impressed by the Spaniard.
