Arsenal launch bid for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Arsenal have reportedly launched a bid of around €40m for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to Calciomercato, the Gunners have made an offer of approximately €40 million to secure the services of the 28-year-old midfielder.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta considers him a potential candidate for the midfield position for the summer transfer window.

With the North Londoners currently competing for the Premier League title, it is highly likely that they will also participate in the UEFA Champions League. To compete in this prestigious tournament, the league leaders will need a large squad of high-quality players, something they currently lack in all areas. As a result, new arrivals at the Emirates could be expected.

Arsenal’s recent January transfer window signings of Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, and Jorginho have undoubtedly bolstered their squad.

Arteta has a particular style of midfielder in mind who can effectively contribute to the final third activities. Although he has redefined Granit Xhaka’s role in the team, resulting in a flurry of goals and assists earlier in the season.

While there were rumours linking Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with a move in the January transfer window, no club were willing to meet Lazio’s asking price for the Serbian.

However, as the 28-year-old will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United have reportedly expressed interest in signing him.
